Grade 1 Ukulele Online Course
14th Jan - 4th Mar 2021 @ 19:00 to 20:00
This course is for players who have completed the Beginner Ukulele Course or who have been playing for at least six months and who would like to consolidate their existing skills and begin tackling more challenging pieces.
Using her ten years’ experience as a ukulele tutor, combined with her background in psychology, education and training, Jessica will guide your learning in a fun and structured way using the RSA Awards Rock School Ukulele Grade 1 Syllabus. This course gives learners all the tuition they need for the Grade 1 examination.
Learners will use the tablature system (TAB), rather than reading the stave, to play music instrumentally to accompany all six classic songs on the syllabus.
Examples from the repertoire include Ben E King "Stand By Me", Adele "Somebody I Used To Know" and Jason Mraz "I’m Yours".
The scales taught on this course will be assessed in the RSL Grade 1 exam. This course also covers the other elements of Grade 1 such as sight reading, improvisation & interpretation and ear tests. Due to current restrictions on face to face exams these cannot be assessed during the recorded exam.
This course consists of eight 1 hour taught group lessons and up to 30 minutes of one-to-one lesson time to review your pieces before you submit your exam video.
Learners need to purchase the book (digital or hard copy) and supporting materials before the course starts (£13.99). This can be purchased here: https://cloud.rslawards.com/shop/grade-books/ukulele/grade-one
Taking the exam is optional after completing the course. Examinations take place as a recorded exam when learners feel that they are ready to enter.
